John Fogerty and Peter Frampton at HIBF 2020
20 December 2019

John Fogerty is coming to Blues Village Grolloo! The Creedence Clearwater Revival singer and guitarist will be closing the fifth edition on Saturday 13 June. Peter Frampton and Hannah Wicklund and the Steppin Stones have been confirmed for Friday. Southern Avenue have been added to the program on Thursday.

With a career spanning over five decades, John Fogerty is hailed as one of the most influencial musicians in rock history. He became known as the founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival, for which he was the lead singer, lead guitarist, and principal songwriter. After the band disbanded in 1972, Fogerty embarked on solo career. Rolling Stone honored him as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, 100 Greatest Songwriters, and 100 Greatest Singers. His latest album, 50 Year Trip: Live At Red Rocks, was released in November 2019.

Peter Frampton started his musical career as the singer and guitarist in The Herd before starting Humple Pie, still only 18 years of age. After leaving the band, Frampton moved to the US to begin a solo career and released five records in five years. The last one, 1976’s live album Frampton Comes Alive!, caused his big breakthrough. Selling over 8 million copies in the US alone, the album hosted hit singles such as Show Me The Way and Baby, I Love Your Way. The perfomance in Grolloo is part of his Farewell tour due to health issues.

Vocalist, songwriter and guitar player Hannah Wicklund founded her band in 2006 - when she was a mere 8 years old. Starting out playing covers, the band has come a long way, with now over 2,500 shows and three completed albums under their belt. Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones are now known for their blazing guitars and searing vocals. Their latest album Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones was released in 2018 and met with rave reviews.

Southern Avenue is a fiery young Memphis band that embodies its home city's soul, blues and gospel traditions, adding their own flavors. The group, signed to the legendary Stax label, released their self-titled debut album in 2017 and saw it enter the US Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart at number 6. It also reached number 1 on the iTunes Blues Chart. Their second album, Keep On, was released in May.
