For more than ten years, James Hunter has been touring the world with his steaming performances oozing soul. With his stand-out dark sounding voice and fat grooves it’s like he brings back Sam Cooke and Wilson Pickett from the hereafter. On his fourth album Hold On!, British soulman Hunter is back in top form. The album is his debut on the famous Daptone label, and on it, Hunter worked with Daptone sound architect Gabriel Roth, who was also present on its successor, 2013’s Minute By Minute. Ever since childhood, Hunter has been addicted to raw American soul and R&B. He absorbed both styles so intensely that he could have founded them himself. Hunters former employer Van Morrison said in an interview: “He’s one of the best voices and best kept secrets in British R&B and soul.”
