He is still only 21 years of age, but widely recognized as one of the biggest talents in blues. Songwriter, guitarist, singer, and bandleader Marcus King, together with his The Marcus King Band, has already delivered two records: 2015’s Soul Insight and 2016’s The Marcus King Band. After that, he also released an EP, Due North. King was literally brought up with the blues: as a child in South Carolina, he performed as a sideman with his father, the fellow bluesman Marvin King, who in turn was also the son of a regionally known blues artist. After that, Marcus struck out on his own with what he calls ‘soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock’. Before long he drew the attention of his ever-growing audience as well as fellow musicians who couldn’t wait to function as a mentor. Derek Trucks played guitar on the song Self-Hatred off the second album; Warren Haynes even went so far as to produce all tracks.
