To say that singer, songwriter and guitarist Joe Louis Walker has a lot of experience playing the blues would be an understatement: he picked up the guitar at age 8 and is now well into his seventies. In his teens, he already played with many greats, such as John Lee Hooker, John Mayall, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix. Yet it took until 1986 until he released his first record. He made up for his late start in the years after and has since filled his mantelpiece with six Blues Music Awards and an induction to the Blues Hall of Fame, among others. San Francisco-born “JLW” released his latest album, Weight Of The World, in 2023. But besides listening to his records, you also have to experience this blues man live on stage, due to his energetic performance, razor-sharp timing and unforgettably intense voice.
