KING SOLOMON HICKS RETURNS TO HIBF
- 28 January 2020
King Solomon Hicks returns to Blues Village Grolloo! The brilliant guitarist has been added to the program on Saturday 13 June.
Guitarist Solomon Hicks has been called all kinds of names, such as “King” Solomon by his fans, but also Lil’ B.B. and East Montgomery. It’s all because he seamlessly merges jazz and blues and at such a tender age. Now in his early twenties, Solomon got his first guitar lesson at the tender age of 6. Early on his parents took him to jam sessions in Harlem clubs and at age 13, he started playing the lead guitar at New York’s renowned Cotton Club. Hicks recorded his first album, Embryonic, at age 14 with the Cotton Club All-Star Band and released his first solo album, Carrying On The Torch Of The Blues, in 2015. He has collaborated with many great artists such as B.B. King, Tony Bennett, Gregg Allmann, Bruce Springsteen, and many more. His long-awaited new album, will be released this Spring, aptly titled Harlem as that is where he learned how to play – and how!
